App privacy policy
This is the privacy policy for the apps and games published by Torn Metal LLC. It forms part of our Terms of Service.
Looking for what the website records when you browse tornmetal.com? That is a different set of practices and it is written up separately, in the privacy overview.
Last updated 30 August 2026.
01 · SCOPE
This policy applies to the iOS, iPadOS, macOS and visionOS applications published by Torn Metal LLC — currently including DayPath Widget, PhotoObjects Creator, PhotoDome, Venture To Space, WhichLocker, Reaction Speed and TakeALook — together with the support email addresses attached to them.
It does not cover the tornmetal.com website, which is described in the privacy overview, and it does not cover Apple. Your relationship with the App Store — purchases, subscriptions, downloads, refunds — is governed by Apple’s own privacy policy, not ours.
Each app’s privacy label on its App Store listing is the authoritative statement for that specific app. Where an app’s label and this general policy appear to differ, the label governs that app.
02 · WHAT WE COLLECT
For any app whose App Store label reports “Data Not Collected,” the app itself sends us nothing. The only information we receive is the aggregate reporting Apple provides to every developer — download and sales figures, aggregate usage statistics, and crash reports — none of which identifies an individual. For all other apps, the following applies.
Your content — photos, captures, selections, documents, saved settings — stays on your device and in your own iCloud account. We operate no server that holds it and no account system that could reach it.
Where we do collect usage data, we hold ourselves to three rules:
03 · HOW WE USE IT
We use what we collect to fix faults, to understand which features earn their place, and to answer you when you write to us. That is the whole list.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross‑context behavioural advertising — as those terms are used in the California Consumer Privacy Act. We have never done so, and we run no advertising business that would give us a reason to.
We may publish or share aggregate figures that describe how an app is used in general — how many people tried a particular feature, say — where nothing in them identifies a person.
We will disclose personal information where the law requires it, such as in response to a valid legal demand. If we ever receive one, we will tell the people affected unless we are legally prohibited from doing so.
04 · LEGAL BASIS
If you are in the UK, EU or EEA, the GDPR requires us to name a lawful basis for each purpose:
05 · CHILDREN
Our apps are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Some of our apps carry age ratings that make them suitable for younger players; that suitability is about content, and does not change what we collect.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided us with personal information, write to privacy@tornmetal.com and we will delete it.
06 · RETENTION
| Usage data | Kept for 36 months, then deleted. Three years is long enough to judge whether a change to an app actually helped; past that it is history rather than evidence. |
| Crash reports | Kept while the affected version is still in use, and discarded once the fault is resolved and the version retired. |
| Support email | Kept so that we can pick up a conversation if you write again. |
| Newsletter subscription | Kept until you unsubscribe, at which point Brevo removes you from the list. |
07 · YOUR RIGHTS
You may ask us to give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or object to our using it — including objecting to analytics. Where the data was provided by you and is processed by consent or contract, you can ask for it in a portable form. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting what was done beforehand.
We honour these requests for anyone who asks, wherever you live, rather than first establishing which statute covers you. Write to privacy@tornmetal.com; we aim to respond within 30 days. We will not charge you or treat you differently for asking.
Where data was collected without anything identifying you — which is how the usage data is deliberately built — we may be unable to locate records as “yours,” and we will say so rather than guess. If you are in the UK or EEA you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
08 · TRANSFERS
Torn Metal LLC operates from the United States and our hosting is in the United States, so information we hold is processed there. Brevo, which handles newsletter email, processes in the European Union. Apple’s handling of App Store and diagnostics data is governed by Apple’s own policy and infrastructure.
If you are writing to us from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection law differs from that in your own country.
09 · SECURITY
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information from loss, theft and unauthorised access. Data we hold sits behind authentication and is reachable only by us.
The most effective protection we apply is not collecting things in the first place: your content stays on your device, so there is no store of it for anyone to breach. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we do not claim otherwise.
10 · EMAIL
If you subscribe to our email updates, you agree that the personal data you provide will be transferred to Brevo, our marketing platform, and processed in accordance with Brevo’s privacy policy. We use it to send the newsletter and nothing else. Every message carries a one‑click unsubscribe link.
11 · CONTACT
Torn Metal LLC is an independent app studio in the United States, and is the data controller for the processing described in this policy. For any privacy question or request, write to privacy@tornmetal.com.
12 · CHANGES
We may update this policy as the apps change. When we do, the date at the top of this page moves, and the change is described here rather than folded quietly into the wording. Material changes to what we collect will be reflected in the affected app’s App Store privacy label as well.
